KRAFTWORKS 2

Kraftwoks_ii_4Not rain or thunder could stop us from having a wonderful time in exhibiting work. I've never done this before and was extremely intimidated by it all until I was welcomed by many fellow artisans showing up with wonderful crafts and spirits. The day started of with some rain but as the time progressed the sun was shining and the warm tropical Miami-an weather sprung forth which may have made it a little sticky at times, but all worked out. A fabulous group formed this fair and I was so happy to meet some very talented artist that dedicate their entire being in their work. I couldn't help but buy some wonderful presents for some lucky friends of mine... might as well start the holiday shopping early. I want to send a big thank you to all that came to the fair, hope you all enjoyed the great music and ambiance, cause I sure did!

Rainy Days in Miami

Rain

Sorry for the lack of inspirations as the weather puts a lull sleepy feeling in me. It’s nice to cozy up on the couch and watch a movie or two while the garden gets some much needed watering… yet there’s something about the sunshine days that give a little extra oomph for me. Maybe I’m an undercover super-woman that needs her dose of sun for strength…lol Well… gotta get back to being productive again… just a reminder for those of you that don’t know… This Saturday at 11AM there’s the KRAFTWORKS Part II… hope you all can make it if you are around the neighborhood to chat with me a little. Have a great rainy day…

Planning the Halloween costume!!!

One of my favorite celebrations… Halloween. For this year’s festivities I was pondering on a persona and it seems the 17th century temptress is calling me… I found this fabulous skirt in a thrift store for $5!!! Great deal! Next thing will be a complimenting corset to make a complete outfit… my past experience with corsets have not been the best… mostly because the patterns provided aren’t very curvy friendly (blush, blush) So… I found this great website that provides you with custom corset pattern generator J Not to mention the amazing wig I found…granted for every penny saved in the skirt I’ve splurged on the wig… but all for a memorable picture! Here is an inspiration on my future endeavor…

Remember Cole Porter?

How I love Etsy..let me tell you in how many ways... I just came across this great artisian (kingpopcorn) that makes humorus wall art and can't get better than this...

I_die_a_lil

Every time we say goodbye I die a little

Just when you thought quilting and sewing is just for fabrics along comes this innovative style of wall art. The design is embroidered by hand on to Strathmore pastel paper. The piece can be hung by a cord or mounted...either way a great piece for wall art. Now I just need to find more walls...

A20christmas20story

That time of the year is coming where we search high and low for the best gift for love ones. I start to ponder the essence of giving in a society that is becoming a bit apathetic to the soul and art of giving. SO I searched for those that took a deep insight to what is giving all about. Kahlil Gibran was a Lebanese American artist, poet and writer. He was born in Lebanon and spent much of his productive life in the United States. He wrote endless beautiful thoughts and concepts of life and much more. What inspired me from him was an excerpt from "The Prophet” published in 1923:

There are those who give little of the much which they have- and they give it for recognition and their hidden desire makes their gifts unwholesome. And there are those who have little and give it all. These are the believers in life and the bounty of life, and their coffer is never empty. There are those who give with joy, and their joy is their reward. And there are those who give with pain, and that pain is their baptism.

The act of giving without being asked is one of the sweetest joys. I’ve been built to be a gift giving machine because I am an only child and my mother always showered me with gifts, lectures and love. It’s my second nature to do the same to those I love and even to those I don’t know. Giving has never needed a recognizable face or name to go ahead and want to provide something special for someone. I look forward to the great holidays that will soon sweep past us. And hope all of you will have many wonderful gift giving experiences…

When I have A Crabby Day!

Warning_crabby_sign

Do you ever have those days when you are moseying along and suddenly you are crashed with the most awful experience? Well I have and plenty of it… Makes my philosophical side of me start pondering… why are we so aggressive, angry, and unpleasant people sometimes? I know my friend A Fanciful Twist can relate… So because of a foul yesterday, I began to ponder good and bad. One cannot exist without the other, because we won’t know or distinguish anything without it’s exact opposite, right? Have I lost you yet? Anyway, so I happened to run into some food for thought information on an ancient philosopher named Heraclitus of Ephesus he was know as the “Obscure”. He stated that both good and bad have their place in the order of things. He believed without this constant interplay of opposites the world never cease to exist. WOW! So intern I feel a little better about everything. I know that I can really use some good now, but at least I can tell the difference. So for any of you that have crabby days…you’ll clearly differentiate a better tomorrow, and at least you experienced it so maybe you’ll attract a better experience next time… Big hug for you.

Happy Labor Day!

Hi guys,
Hope you had a wonderful stress free day today. I spent most of the day in my backyard relaxing amongst the beautiful greens. And got a lot of my project moving along. I just added some of my new creations...

Brooches. I find them so useful and add just the right glamour to any outfit. I made them so they can easily fit to use as a pin, hair accessory, neck charm, purse adornment... either way you use them it makes a wonderful touch. Hope you guys are rested to start another week... Take care.
